What is SOGEA?

Single Order Generic Ethernet Access (SOGEA) is a new standalone broadband-only product, provided by Teleconnect Service. SOGEA (VDSL) is available wherever we have rolled out Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC). This means our customers can get download speeds of up to 80Mbps at cheaper prices!

Why you need SOGEA?

SOGEA is the perfect way to future-proof your business before BT switch off all Analogue Lines in 2025.

Teleconnect Service has been implementing VoIP and IP phone solutions that only need a broadband connection to make calls – making the traditional phone line redundant and an unnecessary expense. BT has also announced that they are switching off the ISDN network in 2025 which means all businesses will need to migrate to IP and VoIP telephony.

What changes in the home?

Voice services are delivered by the home hub router, not the wall socket so we can remove the extension wiring which will help improve broadband speeds. There’s also an option to keep the extension wiring to help vulnerable people and on-premises alarms by using our voice reinjection faceplate. This is only available on a premium managed install.

SOGEA Product Features

Product Variants:

  • 0.5 Mbps symmetric for use as replacement voice line or telemetry line.
  • Up to 40 Mbps downstream and up to 10Mbps upstream.
  • Up to 55 Mbps downstream and up to 10Mbps upstream.

  • Up to 80 Mbps downstream and up to 20Mbps upstream.

Security and reliability:

  • Alarmed cabinets which signal any interruption in service or power to the Access Operations Centre (AOC) for an engineer to be sent out to fix the problem.
  • Continued fibre-based service if the copper cable between the cabinet and the exchange fails or is damaged.
