PANASONIC PHONE SYSTEMS TO BE DISCONTINUED

Panasonic PBX Phone Systems will be discontinued by 2023!

Panasonic has made the strategic decision to discontinue the “Panasonic Business Communication” business (Panasonic PBX telephone system, SIP telephone systems, and Scanner categories) in 2023.

Why are the Panasonic Phone Systems being discontinued?

In recent years Panasonic has worked hard to find a way to continue the business by making their organisation and its relationships with partners as sustainable as possible. However, it has become apparent that this is not possible to continue given the current business environment based on the limited capability of factory resources as described below.

  • A sharp decline of the market and rapid shift to cloud-based solutions.
  • A technological mismatch between factory and future market needs and trends.
  • Lagging behind their competitor’s R&D activities.
  • A constant financial deficit due to the reasons above.
  • Shift to new types of demand (Teams, Zoom, etc.) significantly accelerated by Covid-19 which makes the future of the Panasonic business untenable and unpredictable.

When are the Panasonic Phone Systems being discontinued?

In just a years time, the Panasonic PBX telephone systems will be discontinued. Panasonic PBX telephone system parts will be discontinued and will become hard to source. Repairing old PBX and SIP telephone systems will be even harder once Panasonic discontinues these items. Users need to source alternative communications solutions once these items are no longer supported, before the year 2023.

What should you do if you have a discontinued Panasonic Phone System?

With this massive shakeup in the telecommunications industry, Panasonic PBX and SIP telephone system users need to source an alternative means of communications. With BT shutting down ISDN lines and the introduction of SOGEA broadband, the future is more geared towards a hosted phone system. A cloud-based phone system or hosted phone system is a newer form of phone system technology. A hosted phone system uses your internet connection rather than traditional telephone lines. Other than your phones, there is no physical hardware on your premises. Hosted phone systems usually operate on a plug and play basis and you pay for each user monthly, this reduces big bills and large install costs. All you need to gets started with a hosted phone system is a reliable and resilient broadband connection. The connection has to be strong enough to support your hosted phone system and handsets. Unlike the Panasonic PBX and SIP telephone systems, there are little or no up-front costs. Hosted phone systems are more affordable and easier to set up and maintain than traditional Panasonic PBX and SIP telephone systems.
